A new quilt for a new baby

Our friends gave birth last month to their first baby. Little Caleb. I waited until she had the baby to make a quilt because they were waiting to find out what sex the baby was. And here he is!

The quilt is just squares in squares. Simple but so cute.

He obviously enjoys it!

A little bit of sewing

Owen got to bring "Hunny" the bear home from school for the weekend.  She is a cute little bear who wears a bright pink dress.  It was funny my boy carrying around a little girl bear for the weekend.  But he enjoyed it so much.  So of course we had to send her back with a little something.  So we made her a little sleeping bag, since she goes on so many sleepovers.  Owen helped for a few minutes on the machine, then lost interest.  But he was very happy to show his teacher his new creation.
Here she is.  Happy and warm with Owen.

I also made a few journal covers for Christmas gifts and added a little trim for their first initials.

I used the tutorial from Rachel at Stitched in Color. I just had to make a few size adjustments, since the paper here in England is different sized than in the US.

And I had this pillow displayed on my couch during the fall.  Yep, it's been that long since I've blogged anything!
Next, I'll share with you my QUEEN SIZED Double Wedding Ring Quilt I made for my mom. Come back to see!

Update

Well, Happy New Year to all of you! It's been such a busy 6 months in my new life here in London.
We're all happy and mostly healthy (lots of new bugs and viruses.)  We had a wonderful Christmas and fun on New Year's Eve.
We've had lots of visitors, birthday parties, school plays.
Here's a few pics to fill you in.

Rylan wanted a Halo birthday cake for his 9th Birthday.

Nathan wanted an Angry Birds birthday cake for his 7th Birthday.

I made a ruffle cake for a baby shower.

My sister and her family came to visit and left a few days before 3rd birthday party.  So, of course we had a party.  And she reeeallly wanted a purple princess dress.  So you know what I did, right?
I used this tutorial to make Jael's dress! It was really easy to follow.  The skirt is different than the tutorial.  I learned a lot, as this was my first attempt at sewing a dress.

Do you think she liked it?

Ok, I'll be back to fill you in on more sewing stuff! I've got a lot done lately! Have a great day!
